The Essential N.F.S. Grundtvig
This book is a long-awaited introduction to one of the most influential thinkers from 19th century Denmark, Nikolai Frederik Severin Grundtvig (1783-1872).
In ten chapters the reader is introduced to the many aspects of Grundtvig’s life and work: as a romantic, mythologist, pastor, historian, educator, hymnwriter, politician, and Dane. Grundtvig is situated in a broader historical context, supported by many examples from his writings.
This informative and handy book is written by Anders Holm, one of the foremost experts on Grundtvig, and associate professor in the Faculty of Theology, Copenhagen University.
Anmelderne skrev:
Holm’s nicely laid-out and well-illustrated book does as good a job as is possible of ‘introducing’ a figure who cannot easily be contained within any conventional boundaries (...) Holm gives us an essential flavour of the man and his work and helps us see why we might be interested in finding out more.
